Garrett J Bleakley, CLU®, ChFC® Office ProfileOriginally from Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Gary graduated from Middlebury College, in Middlebury, Vermont, in 1975, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Gary worked in the retail industry for a year in New York City, then entered the financial services industry with Phoenix Mutual Life/Phoenix Equity Planning Co., Inc., in Springfield, New Jersey. After three years in sales, Gary began his management career in 1979. Two years later, he joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Springfield, New Jersey, charged with the responsibility of recruiting, training and developing new associates for The Stone Agency. In 1983, Gary opened a new District Network Office in Fairfield, New Jersey, which within five years became the largest of over 250 District Network Offices in the Northwestern Mutual system. Over the years, Gary has won many company and industry awards both as a successful salesman and a successful manager. Gary was appointed Managing Partner in October 1991 in San Diego, California. The Bleakley Agency, now called The San Diego Group, is comprised of over 100 sales and technical professionals with offices in San Diego and Honolulu, Hawaii. Personal Gary and his wife, Laurie, reside in La Jolla, California. They have three children, Jennifer, age 33, Garrett, age 29, and Timothy, age 24, and a granddaughter, Kylie, age 11.
