Candace Berkman

Long Term Care Specialist

Candace graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and speech communications in 1977 and joined the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in 1998 as a Financial Representative where she has consistently been a top producer among all women representatives.

Candace enjoys working with sole proprietors,  family owned and closely held businesses, as well as professionals and executives.

Candace has been a very active member of the San Diego Community serving on numerous boards and winning several awards for her accomplishments. Currently she serves on the board of NAIFA, the industry association as well as The Vista Hill Foundation and has been a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 2005.

 

 

James D Chesney, CLU®, ChFC®

Disability Insurance Specialist

Jim received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Honors Quantitative Sociology from UC San Diego and has been a financial representative for Northwestern since 1988. His areas of expertise include Personal needs Analysis, Business Needs Analysis, Estate Analysis and Retirement Solutions. He is now the Group DI Specialist as well as the Individual DI Specialist. Jim is also a Life member of MDRT with 18 years of membership.

 Jim lives in La Jolla with his wife, Kim, and two children, Cara and Timmy. He has been very active in all aspects of the children’s sports activities and he and his wife are both active with The Bishop’s School where his children attend.

 

Clinton W Cooper

Senior Investment Specialist

Clinton specializes in 401K plans, Retirement Plans, Trust Services and assists clients with expert guidance for a lifetime of financial security. Clinton holds his Series 7, 63, 65, 31 securities licenses.  He is a Wealth Management Advisor. Clinton began working in the Financial Services Industry at Northwestern Mutual as a representative 1994. He specialized in investments, as well as life and disability insurance among other specialities.  Clinton earned the recognition of Rookie of the Year.   In 1996 Clinton began working with Morgan Stanley as a Financial Advisor, he was in the Top Producers Club with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Clinton returned to Northwestern Mutual in 2002 as an Investment Specialist for the San Diego Group.

Chuck oversees the San Diego Strategic Employee Benefits Services team. Responsible for all new group sales activity. Works   
with Financial Reps on new prospects with more than 10 employee’s. Maintains
relationships and renewals of existing group clients with greater than 20 employees.
 
Chuck Mune has over twenty years of experience in the employee benefits and insurance
field. Chuck served in sales and management positions for Blue Cross of California,
CIGNA HealthCare, Prudential HealthCare, FHP/TakeCare, and American Medical Pathways.  
 
Chuck received his B.S. degree in business from the University of Hartford, 
and MBA from the University of San Diego. Chuck has also holds a  Registered Health Underwriter designation from the American College.

 

John O Todd III

Life Insurance Specialist

After a decade of consulting to industrial manufacturing entities in safety and loss prevention planning, John O. Todd III joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in 1995.

A third-generation Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Representative , John assists his clients as they prepare for retirement, children’s education, business succession, corporate executive benefits, insurance or investment portfolios, or estates.

John is currently President of the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and is a graduate of the University of San Diego.

John is a Southern California native. He and his wife, Cheryl, have two sons, Jack (John IV) and Andrew.

Estate & Business Planning Specialist

Jim has been a Financial Representative since 1969.

He graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in finance, then completed his law degree at the University of Idaho, as well as completed a master’s degree in management and a master’s degree in financial services at  The American College.

While attaining his law degree, Jim began his career with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network as an intern. Now, over 30 years later, Jim’s focus is on meeting the needs of executives and highly compensated individuals, specializing in executive compensation, including retirement and other employee benefit plans, as well as wealth accumulation and preservation.

Named to Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Jim has published many articles and given numerous lectures and seminars.

Jim lives in Point Loma with his wife, Kathy. He enjoys sailing, golfing and gardening.

 

Leonard Wright, CPA, PFS, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®

Senior Investment Specialist

Leonard gets most excited whenever he has the chance to work with driven, motivated, highly successful people who are not ducking in these crazy times, but want to make better choices now to build a bridge from where they are now to where they want to be.

 On behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants as a grass roots national spokesperson, Leonard has been interviewed on television, has numerous radio interviews across the United States, and been quoted and contributed content in a broad range of national publications. He has presented with the Department of Labor out of Washington D.C. and the Internal Revenue Service Audit division for qualified plans. 
 
Leonard is currently one of four Money Doctors, a public outreach program created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
 
As the Chair of the Personal Financial Planning Committee for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Leonard has delivered Continuing Professional Education for CPAs on topics related to financial planning. He has also delivered financial planning classes for the CFP exam.
 
Leonard has clients throughout the United States and they range from successful business owners to professionals in medicine, law, and politics, to wealthy individuals retired and not retired.
